Legal
Content Policy
Effective Date: March 27, 2026 | Last Revised: March 27, 2026
BINDING LEGAL NOTICE: PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING ANY CONTENT. Dirty Rice Gaming (“Dirty Rice,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) publishes and enforces this Content Policy (“Policy”) to govern all user-generated content submitted to or displayed on https://dirtyricegaming.com(the “Site”), including but not limited to blog post comments, content ratings, contact form messages, and any other user-contributed material (“User Content”). This Policy is incorporated by reference in its entirety into Dirty Rice's Terms of Use and constitutes a legally binding supplement thereto. By accessing the Site or submitting any User Content, you expressly, knowingly, and irrevocably consent to all compliance standards, obligations, prohibitions, and enforcement mechanisms set forth in this Policy, in our Terms of Use, and in our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Site constitutes ongoing consent to this Policy as it may be amended from time to time. Violations of this Policy may result in remedial action up to and including permanent account termination, legal referral, and civil or criminal prosecution where applicable, all at Dirty Rice's sole and absolute discretion and without limitation.
Background and Purpose. Founded in 2009 as a military-rooted gaming community, Dirty Rice has maintained a commitment to inclusive, respectful, and constructive community discourse. This Policy codifies the specific, enforceable behavioral and content standards that govern all interactions on the Site. These standards apply equally and without exception to all users, contributors, and Dirty Rice personnel. Dirty Rice reserves the unilateral right, but assumes no legal obligation, to monitor, review, moderate, remove, edit, withhold, or take action with respect to any User Content at any time, for any reason or no stated reason, in its sole and absolute discretion.
1. Community Values, Purpose & Foundational Principles
The philosophical and legal foundation of content governance
Dirty Rice has maintained a sustained, uninterrupted community presence since 2009, during which time it has cultivated an inclusive, respectful, and substantive environment for gamers of every background, skill level, ability, identity, and origin. The standards set forth in this Policy are not aspirational guidelines; they are binding contractual obligations that you accept as a condition of accessing the Site and submitting any User Content. Dirty Rice applies and enforces these standards consistently, uniformly, and without favoritism, including with respect to Dirty Rice operators, contributors, and moderators acting in any capacity.
Standard of Review. When evaluating whether specific User Content violates this Policy, Dirty Rice applies an objective “reasonable person” standard: whether a reasonable, unbiased person of ordinary sensibility, considering all relevant contextual factors, would conclude that the content is harmful, harassing, deceptive, illegal, or contrary to the spirit of inclusive community discourse. This standard is applied in conjunction with consideration of: (a) the specific conduct or content at issue; (b) the apparent intent of the submitting user; (c) the severity and potential impact of the content; (d) the submitting user's history on the Site; (e) the context in which the content was submitted; and (f) any response, mitigation, or explanation offered by the user.
No Duty to Monitor.Dirty Rice expressly assumes no duty, obligation, or legal responsibility to proactively monitor, pre-screen, or review all User Content before it is published on the Site. Dirty Rice's moderation activities are conducted on a reactive, best-effort basis. Dirty Rice's failure to identify or act on any particular piece of prohibited content does not constitute Dirty Rice's approval, endorsement, tacit authorization, estoppel, or waiver with respect to such content or any similar future content. Moderation discretion in any particular instance does not create precedent or an obligation to act similarly in any other instance.
2. Permitted Content
Categories of content welcomed and accepted
User Content is permitted on the Site to the extent it serves a legitimate, constructive, lawful, and community-positive purpose and does not violate any prohibition enumerated in Section 3 or any provision of these Terms of Use. Without limiting the foregoing, the following categories of content are generally welcomed and consistent with the standards of this Policy:
- Substantive On-Topic Discussion: Commentary, analysis, and discourse that meaningfully contributes to ongoing blog post discussions or community conversations regarding gaming, technology hardware, streaming platforms, competitive gaming strategy, gaming culture, or other topics within Dirty Rice's editorial scope. Content should be relevant, substantive, and additive in nature.
- Constructive Criticism and Feedback: Specific, honest, and civilly expressed feedback directed at the quality, accuracy, methodology, or conclusions of Dirty Rice editorial content, or directed at the Site's design, functionality, or features. Criticism must be directed at ideas, work, or entities, not at individuals in a personal or harassing manner.
- Gaming Expertise, Insight, and Advice: Practical gaming tips, gear recommendations, hardware comparisons, streaming configuration advice, FPS strategy, game reviews, opinion pieces, and related subject-matter contributions that a reasonable person would find informative, accurate, and genuinely helpful to other community members.
- Good-Faith Community Questions: Sincere, good-faith requests for information, clarification, assistance, or community input from fellow users or Dirty Rice contributors, submitted in the spirit of community engagement rather than disruption.
- Personal Experience Sharing: Genuine, first-person accounts of gaming experiences, hardware setups, tournament participation, streaming journeys, or other personally relevant narratives shared in a respectful and community-appropriate manner.
- Appropriate Humor and Banter: Light-hearted, good-natured, and context-appropriate humor that does not target any individual, group, or protected characteristic; is not reasonably likely to cause offense or harm to any person; and is clearly distinguishable from serious or sincere statements of hostility, threat, or prejudice.
The categories above are descriptive examples, not exhaustive limits. Dirty Rice reserves the right to evaluate any User Content against the overall spirit and letter of this Policy and to determine permissibility in its sole discretion.
3. Prohibited Content Categories
Specific, binding prohibitions: violations subject to immediate action
The following categories of User Content are strictly, absolutely, and unconditionally prohibited on the Site under all circumstances, regardless of claimed intent, context, irony, satire, artistic expression, or any other justification. Submission of prohibited content constitutes an immediate, material breach of these Terms and this Policy and subjects the submitting user to enforcement action as described in Section 5.
3.1 Hate Speech, Discrimination & Supremacist Content
Content that attacks, dehumanizes, demeans, denigrates, incites hatred or violence against, expresses contempt for, or calls for discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship status, color, religion or lack thereof, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, genetic information, marital status, military or veteran status, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law is strictly and absolutely prohibited. Prohibited material includes but is not limited to: ethnic or racial slurs; derogatory stereotyping based on protected characteristics; content that portrays a group as subhuman, inherently criminal, or deserving of violence; white supremacist, neo-Nazi, or other extremist ideology; “dog-whistle” or coded language that a reasonable person would understand to carry hateful meaning; and content designed to intimidate or discourage participation by members of protected groups.
3.2 Harassment, Targeted Abuse & Threats of Violence
Content that is intended to, or would reasonably be understood by a recipient to, intimidate, bully, harass, threaten, stalk, or cause emotional distress to any individual, whether a Site user, Dirty Rice personnel, public figure, or private person, is strictly prohibited. This prohibition encompasses: (a) direct threats of physical harm, sexual violence, property destruction, or reputational damage; (b) targeted personal attacks on an individual's character, appearance, or personal life unrelated to any legitimate topic of public discourse; (c) public disclosures of an individual's private personal information without consent (“doxing”), including but not limited to home and work addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, financial account information, legal and immigration status, and medical information; (d) coordinated group harassment campaigns targeting an identified individual; (e) impersonation of an individual for purposes of harassment or reputational damage; and (f) repeated unwanted communications directed at an individual who has expressed a wish not to be contacted.
3.3 Sexual, Explicit & Obscene Content
All pornographic, sexually explicit, sexually suggestive, or obscene content is strictly prohibited, including graphic written descriptions, links to pornographic material, and any content that sexualizes or exploits any individual. Any content that sexually exploits, depicts, or describes minors in any form whatsoever constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and will result in: (a) immediate and permanent account termination; (b) mandatory reporting to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline; and (c) referral to appropriate federal and state law enforcement authorities, without prior notice to the submitting user. Dirty Rice makes no exceptions whatsoever to this policy, regardless of claimed fictional, artistic, satirical, or educational framing. Content depicting or describing non-consensual sexual scenarios, whether fictional or purportedly real, is likewise absolutely prohibited.
3.4 Graphic Violence, Glorification of Harm & Self-Harm Content
Gratuitous depictions, descriptions, or graphic representations of real-world violence, serious physical injury, gore, torture, or death of any human or animal, whether in text, image link, or other format, are prohibited. Additionally prohibited is any content that glorifies, romanticizes, normalizes, advocates for, or instructs in acts of violence, terrorism, mass casualty events, genocide, or self-harm, including content that promotes or provides detailed methods of self-injury or suicide. Standard discussion of in-game violence within the context of a licensed video game, using appropriate context and without gratuitous or real-world detail, is permissible.
3.5 Disinformation, Fraud & Harmful Deception
Content that constitutes, promotes, or facilitates deliberate deception in ways reasonably likely to cause material real-world harm is prohibited. This includes: (a) demonstrably false factual claims about identifiable individuals presented as fact; (b) medical misinformation that contradicts established scientific or public health consensus and could endanger physical health; (c) false election or voting-related information designed to suppress participation; (d) impersonation of real, identifiable individuals, entities, or organizations for purposes of deception, fraud, or reputational damage; (e) fraudulent commercial representations, counterfeit product promotions, or financial fraud schemes; and (f) malicious phishing content including deceptive links designed to obtain personal information under false pretenses. Clearly labeled satire, parody, and good-faith editorial opinion remain permissible and are evaluated in context.
3.6 Spam, Commercial Abuse & Inauthentic Conduct
The following categories of commercially motivated or inauthentic conduct are prohibited: (a) repetitive, off-topic, or low-effort content submissions designed to increase visibility or generate traffic rather than to contribute substantively; (b) unsolicited commercial advertising, referral or affiliate link placement, product promotion, or service solicitation not authorized by Dirty Rice; (c) coordinated inauthentic behavior including operating multiple accounts, artificially inflating content ratings, coordinated mass reporting of legitimate content for retaliatory or strategic purposes, and astroturfing campaigns; (d) automated non-human content submissions via bots, scripts, automated browsers, or other mechanical means without Dirty Rice's express prior written authorization; and (e) self-promotional content that does not offer genuine community value. Organic, good-faith mentions of personally relevant projects are evaluated individually in context and may be permitted where genuinely additive to community discussion.
3.7 Privacy Violations & Unauthorized Disclosure
Disclosing, publishing, distributing, or threatening to disclose the private, personal, or confidential information of any individual without their express, specific, and informed consent is strictly prohibited. Prohibited disclosures include: (a) residential or work addresses; (b) personal telephone numbers; (c) personally identifiable financial information including account or credit card numbers; (d) government-issued identification numbers; (e) medical, psychiatric, or health records or information; (f) login credentials or passwords; (g) private correspondence without the author's consent; and (h) any other information the reasonable person would expect to remain private and the publication of which could expose the subject to physical, financial, reputational, or emotional harm. This prohibition applies regardless of whether such information was technically accessible through prior public disclosure.
3.8 Illegal Content, Criminal Facilitation & Regulatory Violations
Any User Content that constitutes, facilitates, encourages, incites, solicits, promotes, instructs in, or provides material assistance for any activity that is illegal under applicable federal, state, local, or international law is strictly prohibited and may be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities without notice. Prohibited content includes but is not limited to: (a) instructions for unauthorized access to computer systems, networks, or accounts in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1030, or analogous state or international law; (b) promotion of or instruction in software piracy, circumvention of digital rights management systems, or trafficking in circumvention devices in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 1201; (c) content facilitating controlled substance distribution, acquisition, or trafficking; (d) fraud, extortion, money laundering, identity theft, or financial crimes; (e) human trafficking, forced labor, or sexual exploitation; (f) content facilitating retaliation against consumers or competitors in violation of applicable law; and (g) any content that would constitute criminal solicitation, criminal conspiracy, or criminal facilitation under applicable law.
3.9 Intellectual Property Infringement
Submitting User Content that reproduces, distributes, displays, performs, modifies, or creates derivative works based on any copyrighted material, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property owned by any third party, without the authorization of the rights holder or without the application of a clearly applicable statutory exception such as fair use, is prohibited. This prohibition includes: (a) substantial verbatim copying or near-verbatim paraphrasing of published articles, books, or other works; (b) unauthorized reproduction of game code, software, music, films, or other copyright-protected media; (c) unauthorized use of third-party trademarks in a manner likely to cause confusion regarding source, sponsorship, or affiliation; and (d) misappropriation of any person's right of publicity. For DMCA takedown procedures, refer to our Terms of Use, Section 7.
3.10 Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior & Platform Manipulation
Any coordinated, systematic, or automated effort to manipulate the Site's community features, ratings systems, moderation mechanisms, or public perception of content or users is strictly prohibited. This includes: (a) operating or controlling more than one active user account simultaneously without Dirty Rice's prior express written authorization; (b) artificially inflating, suppressing, or manipulating content ratings, comment visibility, or search rankings through any coordinated or automated means; (c) organizing others to brigade, mass-report, mass-downrate, or collectively harass specific users or content items; (d) astroturfing (creating a false impression of organic, grassroots community support or opposition); and (e) any use of automated tools, including browser bots, headless browsers, or scripted interaction mechanisms, to interact with Site features in a manner that simulates human user behavior without Dirty Rice's authorization.
4. Editorial Content Standards
Standards governing drg-published content and contributor obligations
All original editorial content published by Dirty Rice or by authorized Dirty Rice contributors, including blog posts, gaming guides, hardware reviews, opinion and editorial pieces, and community announcements, is subject to the following additional quality and integrity standards, which Dirty Rice enforces on an ongoing basis:
- Factual Accuracy and Error Correction: Dirty Rice endeavors to ensure factual accuracy in all published editorial content prior to publication. Where factual errors are identified post-publication, Dirty Rice commits to issuing timely corrections and updating the affected content with a prominent correction notice identifying the nature of the corrected error. Dirty Rice does not retroactively alter published factual claims without transparent notation of the revision.
- Sourcing Standards: All factual claims of consequence are based on credible, verifiable, and current sources, cited and attributed where appropriate. Dirty Rice clearly distinguishes between independently verified factual reporting, referenced third-party sources, and editorial opinion or commentary.
- Sponsored Content and Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Any editorial content that was produced in whole or in part as a result of a paid, sponsored, gifted, bartered, or otherwise commercially influenced arrangement will be clearly and prominently labeled at the top of the content and in any promotional materials, in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides, 16 C.F.R. Part 255, and corresponding FTC disclosure requirements. Material conflicts of interest held by contributors are similarly disclosed.
- Originality and Attribution: All editorial content published under the Dirty Rice brand is either wholly original work created by or for Dirty Rice, properly licensed third-party content, content in the public domain, or content reproduced pursuant to fair use or an equivalent statutory exception, with appropriate attribution in all cases. Dirty Rice does not republish, plagiarize, or misappropriate the work of other publishers without proper authorization and attribution.
- Fairness and Non-Discrimination in Coverage: When Dirty Rice editorial content covers companies, individuals, gaming studios, or public figures, Dirty Rice applies consistent factual and editorial standards regardless of the subject's identity, commercial relationship with Dirty Rice, or personal affiliation with Dirty Rice personnel. Where Dirty Rice content contains serious factual allegations against an identifiable individual or organization, Dirty Rice will provide a reasonable opportunity for response prior to publication where practicable.
- Opinion and Satire Labeling: Content representing the opinion, speculation, prediction, or satire of Dirty Rice or its contributors is clearly labeled as such and does not purport to represent verified factual reporting.
5. Enforcement, Sanctions & Moderation Authority
Dirty Rice's moderation authority and available enforcement actions
Dirty Rice operates moderation of the Site on a commercially reasonable, best-effort basis. Dirty Rice moderation personnel and automated systems may identify violations of this Policy through proactive monitoring, user reports, automated detection, or any other means. Dirty Rice has the unilateral right, but not the duty, to take any of the following enforcement actions in response to an actual, suspected, or potential violation:
| Enforcement Action | Description, Scope & Typical Application |
|---|---|
| Content Removal | Permanent deletion of the specific item of prohibited or policy-violating content. Applied for single-incident or minor violations. Does not preclude further action against the account. |
| Content Modification | Targeted editorial modification of otherwise permissible content to remove a discrete prohibited element (e.g., a single slur within an otherwise compliant comment). Applied sparingly and at moderator discretion; no obligation to apply modification in lieu of removal. |
| Formal Warning | A written notice issued to the account holder identifying the specific violation, the applicable policy provision, and the basis for the determination. Documented in Dirty Rice's moderation records and considered in evaluating future violations through account history. |
| Rate Limiting | Temporary restrictions on the frequency with which an account may submit content or interact with moderated features. Applied for patterns of borderline behavior or minor systemic policy violations. |
| Temporary Suspension | Revocation of account access privileges for a defined period ranging from twenty-four (24) hours to thirty (30) days. Applied for repeated violations, moderate policy breaches, or escalating patterns of misconduct. |
| Permanent Account Termination | Irrevocable termination of the account and all associated access rights, with no right of reinstatement absent Dirty Rice's express written authorization following a successful appeal. Applied for severe violations including hate speech, CSAM, credible threats, coordinated harassment campaigns, systemic and persistent abuse, or any combination of violations indicating an irremediable pattern of conduct. |
| IP and Device-Level Blocking | Technical restrictions preventing access to the Site from identified IP addresses, IP ranges, or device fingerprints associated with persistent policy violations or ban evasion. |
| Law Enforcement Referral | Referral of relevant information to appropriate federal, state, or local law enforcement authorities or regulatory agencies without prior notice to the violating user, for violations constituting or evidencing criminal conduct, including but not limited to CSAM, credible threats of violence, computer fraud, and serious privacy violations. |
| NCMEC CyberTipline Report | Mandatory, immediate report to NCMEC for any content constituting or suspected of constituting CSAM. No prior notice to the submitting user. No exceptions. |
Sole Discretion. All enforcement determinations are made by Dirty Rice in its sole, absolute, and unreviewable discretion. Dirty Rice is not bound by any prior enforcement pattern, custom, course of dealing, or community expectation in determining whether a violation has occurred or what enforcement action is appropriate. Dirty Rice may take different enforcement actions in response to similar conduct based on context, history, impact, and any other factor Dirty Rice deems relevant.
No Liability for Enforcement or Non-Enforcement.Dirty Rice assumes no liability for any harm arising from its decision to take, withhold, delay, or reverse any enforcement action with respect to any User Content or user account. Dirty Rice's decision to remove content does not constitute an admission of liability for the content's prior availability. Dirty Rice's failure to enforce this Policy in any instance does not create any obligation to enforce it in any future instance.
6. User Reporting of Violations
Procedures for reporting prohibited content
Dirty Rice encourages users who encounter content that they in good faith believe violates this Policy to report it. Report submissions should be made via email to support@echoeffect.net. To enable Dirty Rice to evaluate and respond to a report effectively, please include the following information to the extent available and reasonably practicable:
Required and Recommended Report Elements:
- The full URL or specific location on the Site where the reported content appears.
- A verbatim copy or clear screenshot of the specific content at issue.
- A specific description of the nature of the alleged violation and why you believe it violates this Policy.
- The specific Policy section(s) you believe have been violated, if ascertainable.
- Your contact information (name and email address) should you wish to receive follow-up, noting that Dirty Rice cannot guarantee individual responses to all reports.
- For reports of content that you believe constitutes immediate physical danger or criminally threatening conduct, Dirty Rice recommends also contacting local law enforcement directly and not relying solely on this reporting channel.
Dirty Rice's Review Commitment.Dirty Rice reviews all reports submitted in good faith on a commercially reasonable, best-effort basis. Dirty Rice cannot guarantee a response to every individual report, a specific response timeframe, or a particular outcome in response to any report. Dirty Rice's determination with respect to a reported item following review is final and not subject to any obligation of further explanation.
Prohibition on Bad-Faith Reporting. Submitting reports that are knowingly false, frivolous, retaliatory, or made for the purpose of harassing, silencing, or disadvantaging another user, rather than in genuine good-faith belief of a policy violation, is itself a violation of this Policy and the Terms of Use, and may result in enforcement action against the reporting party.
7. Moderation Appeals
Process for challenging enforcement actions; finality of decisions
A user who is the subject of an enforcement action under this Policy may submit a written request for review of that decision within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date on which the enforcement action is taken or, if no notification is provided, within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date the user first reasonably becomes aware of the action. Appeals submitted outside this window may be accepted in Dirty Rice's sole discretion but are not guaranteed consideration. The right to appeal is personal to the affected user and may not be exercised on behalf of another user.
7.1 How to Submit an Appeal
Appeals must be submitted in writing to support@echoeffect.net with the subject line: “Content Policy Appeal: [Your Username]”. To be considered a valid appeal, the submission must include:
- Identification of the specific enforcement action being challenged (including the date of action, the content or account involved, and the type of action taken).
- A specific, substantive explanation of why the user believes the enforcement action was made in error, referencing the specific provisions of this Policy or the Terms of Use that the user claims were misapplied.
- Any relevant factual context, mitigating circumstances, or supporting evidence that Dirty Rice should consider in its review.
- The user's preferred contact email address for correspondence regarding the appeal.
Appeals that are insufficiently detailed, vague, or that consist solely of expressions of disagreement without substantive grounds will be closed without further consideration.
7.2 Appeal Outcomes and Finality
Following review of a timely and substantively sufficient appeal, Dirty Rice may issue one of the following determinations:
- Appeal Denied (Action Upheld): The original enforcement action is confirmed in full. The determination is final and binding. No further appeals regarding the same incident, content item, or enforcement action will be accepted or considered.
- Appeal Granted (Action Reversed): Dirty Rice determines that the enforcement action was taken in error. The specific action will be reversed, the affected content restored if applicable, and/or the account reinstated to its previous access status. Dirty Rice will acknowledge the error to the user.
- Appeal Partially Granted (Action Modified): Dirty Rice determines that while some basis for enforcement existed, a lesser or different action is more appropriate given the facts and circumstances. The original action is accordingly modified.
Non-Appealable Actions. Enforcement actions taken in response to content constituting CSAM, credible threats of physical violence, or a sustained course of systemic abuse involving multiple incidents are final and subject to no appeal. All appeal decisions issued by Dirty Rice are binding, final, and not subject to further internal review, arbitration, or litigation except as otherwise expressly permitted by applicable law. No appeal right created by this Section shall be construed to impose any obligation on Dirty Rice beyond providing written notice of the appeal outcome.

Your ongoing legal obligations as a content contributor
By submitting any User Content to the Site, you make the following representations and warranties to Dirty Rice, each of which is deemed reaffirmed with each submission and your continued use of the Site:

- You are solely and exclusively responsible for your User Content and for all consequences that result from its submission, publication, or distribution.

9. Changes to This Policy
Amendment authority, process, and binding effect of revisions
Dirty Rice reserves the unilateral right to amend, modify, supplement, replace, or rescind this Content Policy, in whole or in part, at any time and in its sole and absolute discretion, without obligation to provide advance notice, except to the extent expressly required by applicable law. Amendments are effective upon posting to this page with an updated effective date. Dirty Rice will endeavor to provide advance notification of material amendments through reasonable means, which may include a notice on the Site homepage or a notification to registered users. For the avoidance of doubt, Dirty Rice may expand prohibited content categories, strengthen enforcement standards, impose new obligations on users, or modify the appeals process at any time.
By continuing to access or use the Site after any revised Content Policy is posted, you unconditionally and irrevocably accept and agree to be bound by the revised Policy in its entirety. If you do not accept any revision to this Policy, your only remedy is to immediately and permanently discontinue all access to and use of the Site. Dirty Rice recommends that users periodically review this Policy in full to remain informed of applicable standards and obligations. Prior versions of this Policy are superseded in their entirety by the current version upon the effective date of revision.
